What happened this week?
Message from Mr Bartlett
Well done to the Guitar and Keyboard groups who performed today at assembly. Special mentions to Maggie Smith for playing the drums and to Miss Schmidt for joining in the singing, with short notice. Room 4 students will be performing next Friday.
All our performances are filmed live on our Facebook page and group, so don’t hesitate to watch them online.
A snapshot around the school…
Golf
It was too wet to play golf outside this week, so students cam inside and practised their putting.
Silly Sock Day
Today was fun seeing everyone wearing funny socks, on their feet, in their hair or even on their hands! We raised money for DownSyndrome Victoria.
Harmony Day
Harmony Day , “Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.”
Students will do activities on Thursday but the orange colour could be seen around the school today. We will keep encouraging inclusion for everyone, throughout the year!
Reading Challenge at School
Well done to all the students who have already read more than 35 nights this term (20 nights for Prep students). This is nearly half the school!
Remember you have until the last Friday of this term (4th April) to get to the correct amount of nights, so keep reading each night. The important part is to record the entries in your logbook, so we can tally the nights, and you can receive a book as a prize! (Be careful... You can read many books in one night, but this would count only as 1 night of reading!)
Parents, please support your child to get into this routine and I hope you understand that the learning intention with this challenge is to develop a pattern for reading daily. This is a good habit to establish, like homework.
We want our learners to become independent and responsible. This is a great way to start!
ANYTHING-BUT-A-BAG-DAY
Next Friday, students can bring all items they usually put their school bag, in something that is NOT a bag! Miss Schmidt gave us the examples of a tacklebox and a laundry basket!
