What happened this week?

Message from Mr Bartlett

Well done to Room 7 & 8 who performed today at assembly. The guitar group will be performing next Friday.

All our performances are filmed live on our Facebook page and group, so don’t hesitate to watch them online.

A snapshot around the school…

Golf

Students from grades 1 to 6 started Golf clinics yesterday. They will be doing this for two more weeks. Thank you to Travis from Gecko Sport for running the sessions. I am hoping to have more sessions at Heyfield golf club too, during our Wednesday activities so students can keep practising the skills they learnt. We still have 3 kits that can be borrowed from the office, if students wanted to have a hit during the weekend or during the holidays.

Wednesday activities

More photos from Wednesday’s rotation of activities. It has been warm and I applaud the runners getting ready for cross-country!

Grade 6 tops

Grade 6 students received a special delivery this week! Their grade 6 tops look fantastic. Well done to all involved designing and creating it!

Snake Bite Workshop

Staff learnt a lot about snakes and how to manage snake bites on Wednesday afternoon. Thank you to Miss Schmidt for being our volunteer.

Huge thank you to Kim Munson for organising this session and for Ambulance Victoria for facilitating it too.

Did you know..?

For animals:

  • Snake venom acts in a number of ways: the toxins damage the nervous system causing progressive paralysis, decreases blood clotting, damages muscle and has secondary effects on kidneys.

  • The initial sign of a bite, often includes: vomiting, confusion, collapse and loss of consciousness.

  • Other signs usually start in a few hours, but sometimes are not noticed for 24 hours!

I have attached a flyer with facts regarding humans and management of snake bites. It is all very interesting, and the main point was ‘DO NOT MOVE!’ Staying as still as we can will ensure the venom does not spread. Compression and staying still are key!

ANZAC Remembrance

The rocks have been placed around the friendship tree. please make sure no one plays with them when you come picking up and dropping off your child, if you sit there.
