What happened this week?

Message from Mr Bartlett

Well done to Room 4 students who did a brilliant work with their performance at assembly, especially after spending time in the pool this morning. Little rock stars!

I am looking forward to hearing more amazing performances next term.

Take care and have a great time during the holidays!

Wednesday fun!

This week was the last week for our rotations for this term. The group who went to the Laurina Lodge had great fun listening to a singer and dancing around with the residents.

Also, you can see from the photos that reading at the town library is much fun too!

Swimming

Humongous THANK YOU to all parents and staff who helped with swimming for the Junior Swimming Program. You are amazing and having you there helping on hot days, busy days and crazy days make a difference.

Next year, we will have to get more photos of

Swimming

Our Junior students ended their program on a high with wearing pijamas in the water. This was not all for fun but more to learn survival skills if anyone was to fall in the water. They learnt to help someone else get out safely, and to get out safely themselves. They can be very proud of themselves, as they have completed this program successfully.

Silly Sock Day

Yesterday, we did Silly Sock Day to raise awareness of DownSyndrome. Silly Sock Day happens every third month of each year, and the whole world celebrates. The third month is chosen because it represents the third chromosome that down syndrome people have, which could possibly make them happier people that people who dont have it.

One behalf of the teachers, we hope you had fun wearing silly socks and there are still 4 pairs of socks left for sale at the office, for $10!

Thank you. From Ruby Byrne.

What else happened this week?!

  • Boys from Room 8 decided to sing and dance in Art, while watching the movie The Lorax.

  • Boys, in hands-on learning, created beautiful frames and art work, with Bill. They were going to donate them to Di, however she was so pleased and grateful we have since received a Vern Graham Voucher. Thank you very much Di!

  • Remember seeing 5/6 students plan for their farm, using miniature animals? They have created their farms, working perimeters and areas, in Maths.

  • Mental Health Session: We learnt about coping strategies that are helpful and how to ask for help when needed. We also learnt that everyone go through many emotions and the Mental Health Continuum. It is imoirtant to know that others feel the same too and we are not alone. KidsHelpline is always an important resource to give out, with professionals at the other end of the phone. Do not hesitate to ask your child what they learnt and start the conversation, so they know they can come to you.

  • Thank you to Lara and Cayley for presenting at assembly about littering and reminding everyone to place rubbish in the bins! You did a great job.

Timber Festival

Thank you to the committee for donating money this year again. Our school received $500 to go towards the 5/6 camp and reduce the costs. This has already been applied and paid for a part of the bus cost.
