What happened this week?
Music Performance
A big 'congratulations' must go to Room TWO for their great performance at Friday's assembly. Next Friday, we will enjoy the sounds of Room 7. Parents are more than welcome to attend.
Mr Bartlett
Downball
On Monday, our week started with the excitement of Downball clinics for the whole school. Downball is commonly known as ‘Four Squares’ at our school, but students learnt the traditional rules, which may have settled some arguments for now!
Melbourne Stars Visit
We enjoyed a clinic with various drills at lunchtime. There was some catching and throwing, low and high. Then, we were able to ask questions to the two female players for Melbourne Stars who ran the clinic.
It was inspiring to have Women Cricket represented and hear that these two young, 19 year old women had started as young as 10 or playing in the backyard. They gave one of the Melbourne Stars top, signed, as a present. Francis Scott thanked them on behalf of the whole school.
Transition Day to Maffra Secondary College
The students in grade 6 going to MSC next year enjoyed their morning experiencing music, Art, PE and other subjects as part of their transition program with Maffra Secondary College. I believe the next special day will be in December. More details will be given out.
Thursday’s Dress-up Day!
Thursday was very exciting with our dress-up parade starting our busy schedule.
What a great effort was by all, students and staff! One of our visitor knew we were dressing up and came dressed up too! Dame Edna was in our building! We also had Rock, Paper, Scissors, a few Wallys and a few Harry Potters!
The excursion to the Town Library was a hoot again this year and all students experienced with fun.
What can we see around the school, this week?
More Maths in Art!! Senior students have been learning about ‘Perspective’ and using geometry to apply it in their artwork. Great results!
VicSpell - Spelling Bee Final
Our school hosted the final round of the Spelling Bee for our area and Elsie Smith represented our school for grade 5s, and Darcy Hanson for grade 6s. They got stuck on some difficult words like ‘magistrate’ and ‘character’, but I think the nerves were the real reason as they can spell these words every other days!
Elsie has already decided to try again next year, in year 6. Well done to both of them and the winners on the day.
School Disco
What a fantastic display of dance moves! Students, staff and even parents boogied together. We played games such as Frozen Statues, Limbo, Dance-offs. Prizes were won, squeals were let out when the songs were the correct choice on the playlist.
We had fun and we were ready for bed at 8:30pm!
CAR WASH - THANK YOU!
Thank you to everyone who came to help at the car wash over this weekend. It was muddy and a little wet. It was cold by the end of the day but students who helped were really good with the sponges so make sure you use their expertise parents!! They do a super job!
We need your help!
Letters have gone home with some students, whose families have been selected randomly to give us feedback via a survey. However, everyyone is welcome to complete this survey. This will enable us to see where we need to improve. The Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey will be open from Monday 7 August to Friday 8 September 2023. Use this link and PIN: https://www.orima.com.au/parent Our school's generic PIN is: 575201
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the survey period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in English and 10 other languages. If you require to use a computer from school, please do not hesitate to ask Ann, at the office and we will organise for you to complete the survey at school.
The other feedback we require from you, by Friday 25th August, is regarding our Matrix, to teach expected behaviours at school. We can print a copy for you if need be, so you can write your feedback all over it and return it to us.
