What happened this week?

Book Fair

Reading is important and we talk about it all the time, and how learning to read is crucial for any work or hobby we want to do. You definitely heard us!

Students (well… parents) have purchased books for over $1,000 at our Book Fair!

Thank you for contributing to this great opportunity. Our school will receive over $500 to spend on Scholastic books.

Students have already chosen some!

Writing

The more you read and the better you will write!

In the Junior end of school, they have been writing Dreamtime stories and learning to up-level their pieces by using different words. For example, instead of the word ‘dark’, they have discovered they coud use ‘dim’, ‘dull’, ‘pitch-dark’, ‘shadowy’ and add nuances to their writing.

Don’t hesitate to stop by and read their stories!

E.S. (Education Support) DAY

Students helped us celebrate ES Day yesterday by writing messages for each of our staff members who support the learning in classrooms. We organised a morning tea and enjoyed acknowledging the hard work our ES staff does every day.

We are very priviledged to work with the most amazing team of ES supporting our students and classroom teachers. We usually refer to them as teachers too, because we learn so much from their knowledge and skills. They are all creative, patient and determined to provide the best for each of our students.

We could not do it without them. So, again, Thank you Nicole, Ann, Megan, Lacey, Bill, Emily and Rhonda for going beyond your roles and helping make this school a great school.

SWPBS AWARD

Our school received the Blue Award for our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support program. I was presented with this award by our Regional Director Ian Burrage and our coach Nicole Bourbaud, on Wednesday at our principal Forum, in Bairnsdale.

We have implemented a lot of new elements to our program and will keep improving it. We are now aiming for Bronze!!!

Jump Rope for Heart

I hope you get to enjoy seeing for yourself on Wednesday 22nd May when we hold our Jump Rope for the Heart Day. We will start this event at 2pm.

Students can show us what they can do with skipping ropes, and how to do it! We will spend some time doing it all, together. Bring your runners!!
