What happened this week?
Wednesday activities: Lawn Bowls
A group of students went to the Heyfield Lawn Bowls this week for their rotation of activities. All improved as the hour went on and we had some real competition with great bowlers like Noah Dinsdale, Jameson Heywood and Ryan Pope. Many got very close to the kitty!
Lunchtime fun!
Today, at lunchtime, students were busy playing very games. Some chose cricket or tennis (or something like it!). We had a group of boys who built a ‘fort’ with sticks and then were ‘fighting’ zombies with pretend bows and arrows, guns and anything to get rid of zombies, I guess!
We had climbing and hanging from play equipments and the most entertaining of all was Downball!
We had students of all ages playing together, Preps with grade 3, 4, 5 & 6s. A great time had by all.
Special Visitor
The Wellington Mayor visited our school this week and spoke about his role and how he was elected and selected to be Mayor. He also explained the purpose of rates and what the Shire spends money on. This was part of the Government and Systems our students are learning about. It was very insightful, especially for our grade 5/6 students who are heading to Canberra on Tuesday and will visit the Parliament on Wednesday.
Little visitors have come back…
At the beginning of this term, we had plovers guarding their eggs on the sandpit. One of our parents, Tina took the eggs and placed them in an incubator. We had the pleasure this morning to meet the little plovers that hatched this week. They will be released in the wild once they have grown a little more.
Some of our students got to pat them and see how fluffy and cute they are when little. This also was a chance to explain why we had taken the eggs away.
